MEMBERSHIP/RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

The benefits of regular exercise are many and wide-ranging. They include maintaining or attaining a desirable weight, strengthening the heart and lungs, strengthening the bones and muscles, lowering an elevated blood pressure, improving sleep and reducing stress. What better way to achieve these benefits than with a membership to the Covenant LifeStyle Centre.

General Rules
All exercise and participation is done voluntarily and at the risk of each member and guest. Individuals must be 18 years of age or older. Exceptions will be made for Sports Medicine clients. Membership does not confer or imply interest of ownership in the facilities or assets of the LifeStyle Centre. Other regulations include:

 

·          Lost and Found – Lost articles will be kept in the business office for a maximum of two weeks. Expensive items will be secured in the business office immediately. The LifeStyle Centre is not responsible for lost or stolen property.

·          Tobacco Products – Tobacco products of any kind are prohibited in the LifeStyle Centre and on the outdoor track and patio.

·          Dress Code

1.       Exercise area – All participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. T-shirts, shorts, warmups and leisure suits are acceptable. Men must wear shirts while indoors. Closed-toe shoes while exercising on the exercise floors. No sandals.

2.       Racquetball courts – Only closed-toe court athletic shoes can be worn on the courts. No black-sole shoes on the court. Safety goggles or glasses required.

3.       Aerobic studio – Only closed-toe court athletic shoes can be worn during any class in the aerobic studio. No black-sole shoes.

4.       Outdoor track – All members are restricted from wearing shoes with spikes. Men are allowed to run without shirts, but are required to wear a shirt if they return indoors.

5.       Pool and sauna area – Men and women are required to wear swimsuits specifically designed for swimming/aquatic exercises while in the pool. Cut-offs and two-piece swimsuits are not allowed. No outdoor shoes permitted on pool deck.

 

 

The LifeStyle Centre reserves the right to assess and define acceptable attire at any time as it pertains to our stated dress code and the continued satisfaction of our members. A member will be asked to leave if he or she cannot follow the rules and policies of the LifeStyle Centre after a prior warning has been given. Repeated violations will result in termination of membership.

 

Hours of Operation


Fitness Center:

 

·          Monday – Thursday: 5:30 a.m. – 10 p.m.

·          Friday: 5:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.

·          Saturday: 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

·          Sunday: 1 a.m. – 6 p.m.

 

Business Office:

 

·          Monday – Friday: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

 

The LifeStyle Centre is closed on holidays. Exceptions to the regular hours of operation will be posted in advance, and effort will be made to minimize such exceptions.

 

 

Access and Use
Members may use either the northwest elevators or stairwell of the east parking garage to enter the facility. All members must check in by presenting their membership badge at the front desk. Unauthorized use of the membership badge by persons other than a member is prohibited and may be grounds for membership termination.

Lost, stolen or damaged membership badges will be replaced at a cost of $5. Access to the outdoor track and eating area is through the south patio door. Members’ access may be denied for past due accounts.

Parking is free for members. Each member must present their parking pass to the front desk upon entering and leaving the facility.

 

Enrollment Procedures
Inquiries about entry requirements will be handled exclusively through the business office. There is no waiting list to join the LifeStyle Centre. Before becoming a member, however, forms must be filled out, including medical history, enrollment information and physician referral. Lab work within the last year also is required.

 

·          Enrollment fee – Fee is $50. It is required that each new member participate in an entry evaluation. The fitness staff evaluates the information and the member’s goals to design a lifestyle and exercise program appropriate for the individual. Members will receive equipment orientation at this time.

·          Lab fee – Fee is $10. If a lipid profile has been performed within the last year, this fee may be waved. The results must be submitted with pre-enrollment information. Otherwise, the lipid profile can be performed at the hospital lab at your convenience. A lab slip must be purchased from the LifeStyle Centre.

·          Billing information – Statements are sent out at the beginning of each month and are due by the 15th of each month.

·          Memberships on hold – Memberships can be put on hold for three months only if the account is up to date. Members must call before the 15th of the month to put a membership on hold for the upcoming month. If a membership is put on hold for more than three months, the membership will be discontinued. A $50 fee will be charged for reinstatement.

 

Guest Policies
All guests must be accompanied by a member at all times and must register at the front desk. Guests must complete and sign a guest card and waiver before using the facility and must wear a guest badge while exercising.

Members may bring a guest one time only at no charge. After the initial visit, the guest fee is $5 per visit. Guests may not make court reservations and must comply with all standard rules and regulations.

 

LifeStyle Membership Services
A variety of services are offered with a LifeStyle Centre membership including:

 

·          Exercise programs for special population - Diabetic, cancer, arthritis, fibromyalgia and weightloss. Staff can also develop exercise programs for the general population including weight loss, toning and increasing strength, as well as programs for the athlete.

·          Personal training - Available for all members. Training by degreed and certified staff. Call 725-4386 to make an appointment.

·          Massage therapy - Available by appointment only. Call 725-4386 or stop by the front desk to make your appointment.

·          Wellness programs – Free regularly scheduled education programs are offered to members.

·          Exercise equipment usage – There is no time limit on the exercise equipment. If any mechanical malfunctions are noticed while using the machine, please report the problem to a staff member.

·          Parking – Members and patients may park for FREE in the parking garage during all hours of operation. Each member must present parking pass to front desk upon entering and leaving the facility. Surface parking also is available in visitor lots across the street.

·          BabyCise – Mothers-to-be may utilize our pool and prenatal aerobic class for $25 a month until the baby is born. A physician prescription is required. A one-month guest pass for use of the pool or aerobics classes is issued by the First Impressions program after the baby is born.

·          Equipment checkout – Members may check out equipment in exchange for keys or a driver's license for security. No equipment may be removed from the facility.

·          Locker rental – Members will have the option of a rental locker or free daily use lockers. Full lockers are rented on a six- and 12-month basis for $8 a month, or $48 and $96, respectively. Half-length lockers are offered for $5 a month, or $30 and $60, respectively. Remaining lockers are available for daily use at no charge. Personal locks may be used on these lockers but must be removed after your workout is complete.

·          Messages – Member messages will be posted at the front desk. Members will only be paged for a call in case of an emergency.

·          Emergency call cords – For your safety, call lights are provided in the locker rooms, pool area and sauna. The cord activates emergency response procedures.

·          Outdoor track – The 1/5 mile track is used for walking or jogging. Exit and entry to and from the track is through the south patio door only.

·          Pool and sauna use – The pool is open during regular operating hours. Members are not allowed to enter the pool 30 minutes prior to closing. Special equipment such as kick boards, swimfins and wave webs are available at pool side. The sauna is open during regular operating hours. The LifeStyle Centre reserves the right to designate sauna privileges based upon medical risk. A 15-minute time limit is strongly recommended.

·          Telephone usage – Telephones are provided in the locker rooms and lounge area for member use.

·          Towel service – Towels are provided in the locker rooms for member use. Used towels should be placed in the dispensers available. Towels must remain in the facility.

·          Weight equipment – Free weight work should be performed with a partner or spotter in the designated free weighted area. Re-rack all dumbells, barbell and free weight plates in their designated areas.
