Purpose/Goal
To facilitate patient safety and promote optimal care by providing participants with comprehensive theoretical and technical information related to patients requiring advanced cardiovascular intervention.
Target Audience
Nurses, Radiologic Technologists, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists, Cardiovascular Techs
(The program focuses primarily on Cath Lab and related areas.)
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, through lecture and discussion, the targeted audience should be able to:
· Describe the integration of pharmacological strategies and angiographic determinants into management of the clotting cascade, especially during invasive procedures.
· Discuss how diabetes puts cardiovascular patients at risk, supported by angiographic evidence, and discuss best practice management strategies.
· Discuss new theories and techniques in managing or terminating atrial fibrillation, including the use of fluoroscopy and other mapping strategies.
· Discuss new LVAD technology as destination therapy and bridge to transplant, including angiographic determinants in diagnosis and management.
· Describe angiographic and clinical determinants of in-stent restenosis and how DES have impacted patient outcomes, hospital finances and strategic planning.
· Discuss prevention and management of complications during angiographic procedures.
· Describe management of adult patients with treated or untreated congenital heart defects, including angiographic and other imaging techniques.

7.2 CNE contact hours will be awarded for this program. is approved as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the Texas Nurses Association, which is accredited as an approver of continuing education in nursing by the 's Commission on Accreditation. This approval meets Type I criteria for mandatory continuing education requirements toward relicensure as established by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of .
Criteria for successful completion is defined as attendance at the entire activity such as to accomplish the objectives as self-reported upon evaluation.
